How do you go about establishing a trapline in ak, I lived in Cordova most my life but never got into trapping I'm now looking to head back to start trapping. Do you just pick an area and hope your not intruding on somebody else?

Lots of scouting. You don’t just “hope,” you go and check. It’s realistic to plan on doing more scouting than trapping your first year (at least). Get out during trapping season and cover ground, looking for signs that someone else is trapping. There’s not really another way to do it that I know of.

Try to talk with local Trappers, see if you can help out your first year.

Talk to the local wildlife trooper. Oftentimes they know what areas are being trapped already
