I have caught a couple of otter and 1 beaver in the last few days. I was just wondering what they might bring. Any idea. Thanks

you will be lucky to see $20 on the otter. The beaver aint worth skinning. Bury it and set traps on top of it and catch coyotes. They aint worth skinning either but they need thinning out. Only thing that is worth anything down here is probably bobcats, and that wont be much either. Might see $10 if you are lucky on fox and cats might be $20-$30 for a big nice one.

you can also skin stuff and get it tanned and sell it for wall hangers.

otter glands are in demand
beaver meat goes to bait makers
oil sacs and castors to lure makers

My opinion Beaver green-$3.00 Beaver dried-$8-$9.
The otter are little early for down here. Toss up on the price. I sold some green for $28 at state auction last season. Feel like I was fortunate with that offer. Canadian Auction houses are sitting on them right now it seems with not much of a market. Depends on what country buyer wants. Again my opinion maybe I’m in left field.

yeah good point on all the non fur stuff. castor, oil sacks, and tail on the beaver are worth something for bait and lure. glands on just about everything are worth cutting out. Raw skulls are worth a few bucks too.

This downturn in the fur market is an awesome time to have them tanned and make a blanket and pillows. Other than that, beaver aren’t worth even looking at, except to make landowners happy to gain access for trapping other critters. Even up here in the cold prairie coyotes are about the only thing worth trapping for the fur market. I’ve been hammering on some muskrat just because the kids like it, maybe I’ll make my baby girl a blanket or something.

Great time to learn to flesh out hides too, If you screw one up just toss it and it doesnt make you wanna cry. But like was stated, i grudgingly trap beaver just to help out landowners and have a little castor and tails for bait. I definately dont target them for any other reason.
