I need some help picking out a .223 round for yotes. I'm looking for something that doesn't tear up the hide to bad. I've read that a heavier bullet is best. I've shot a lot of coyotes but never worried about the pelt.
Any help is appreciated.

You are talking about hunting yotes right?

I've been looking at Hornady GMX. They are a solid copper bullet, so I am hoping that they don't fragment.

They are kind of expensive, but I have had good luck with the 60 grain Nosler Partition.

I have shot over 40 with Hornaday Superformance with the 52 gr VMax bullets. Very accurate and not one pass through. They will cut a fox in 1/2 but about perfect for coyotes.

Best fur round I've come across affordable is just plain ol 55gr sp. I run fiocchi it is cheap and patterns good. Exit holes are minimal if no shoulder was hit

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

I reload with 52 gr Amax from Hornady for my 22 250 and dont load hot , maybe 3500fps. as with any bullet keep away from shoulder and very few exits . You are gonna need a fast twist barrel to stabilize the GMX but it is a good bullet .

I use Hornady Superformance V-max 53 grain rounds. They're very accurate and not much damage unless the shot is close. Great for woodchucks too. Hornady claims the rounds are 200 fps faster than normal vmax rounds.

I gave up on the vmax after inconsistent results. Too many explosive splatter hits. Been shooting 55 gr HP's now for the last 4 years and am happy with them. Rarely a pass through but if there is it is a very small hole. Hornady had a "Steel Match" that I bought bulk for a good price.

Faster isn't always better in this case imo
