Just wondering if using fox or coyote urine makes any difference at a set. Target animal is coyote but will gladly take a fox, mostly greys in our area. Any thoughts from anyone?

I always use coyote urine, and I’ve caught more than a few Fox with it.

Use GOOD pee. I have tried pee alot and never had any luck with it. But Im not using quality pee either, just a few quarts here and there when im making online orders. One day im gonna buy some GOOD pee and try it again. Probably from someone that collects it themselves or from a seller that can guarantee it is quality. The run of the mill cheap stuff aint worth your time.

I use the unmentionable Bob's fox pee also, and have used Andy's in the past, did get some good coyote pee from a guy in WY that's working well this year . The aroma of a good pee stands out tremendously, it actually has replaced my lure usage........

In my opinion, fox urine should be stsndard, with bob cat to mix it up. I power up my urine by adding a bit of matching glands to the urine. I use coyote on post she's ment for them It’s not a good idea to use cat urine at a canine set. Fox and coyote will try to roll in cat urine and you’ll end up with sprung traps. Johnny Thorpe was adiment about this in his fox trapping videos.

The quality of the urine matters the most! Fox works for both, as does coyote. Never really had much luck with bobcat. If I could only use one attractor it would be good quality urine hands down..

Has anyone tried homemade urine?
When making mock deer scrapes, I use homemade dominant buck urine. I have a convenient hand-held dispenser. That is very successful nearly every time.

When making mock scrapes, most of the time, I just pee in them myself. Urine just sparks curiosity no matter what kind of urine it is. I use a Pre-Orbital Gland Lure on a licking branch to finish off the set. Smokey from here in WV makes it and it flat out works.

I have been doing that for about 20 years. That’s what I was getting at with the convenient hand-held dispenser. I locate the scrapes where I want them to be. I have used smokey’s Pre-orbital and agree completely, it sells the scrape.
Best wishes.

Johnny Thorpe was adiment about this in his fox trapping videos. I switch from canine urine to cat urine in late December because I feel it has a stronger odor to help in the cold. I have caught hundreds of canines on it with no signs of rolling at the sets. I also put the urine on the set backing only and do not mist the set with it.
