I have pulled all of my traps in anticipation of gun deer season coming up. Good luck to all and have a safe, fun hunt.

I pulled mine Saturday, was gong to pull Wednesday couldn't caught my third coyote Saturday. Glad I left them out. Will start snares and traps after rifle season. Lots of coyote sign. Good luck, be safe, shoot straight.

Traps are all pulled- I have a few beaver left to flesh this morning and then switching gears. Enjoy the time with friends and family.
Best of Luck and safe travels!

Not too many enlisting in the orange army anymore near me. Old guys have gone soft (or lazy or health problems) middle aged guys don't have time or wives won't let them, kids don't want to look up from their phones.

If I see a dozen guys in orange in the next week I'd be impressed.

To those that are making it out- be safe and have a great time enjoying this great Wisconsin tradition.

Pike, how is the deer population up by you this year? Your about 40 min from me I'm
Assuming, I think the hunter numbers will be even lower with the baiting law

Plenty golden piles around here. Numbers are decent. Most are nocturnal because of the baiting. All the neighbors with cameras have some real bruisers at 3-4 am. These are cameras of old guys that prefer to watch wildlife though.

The trophy bucks that guys want hold up in the swamps.

The wolves and yotes have probably had an impact on numbers but I think the biggest impact is that it made the seer much more cautious/smarter. But I'm not a biologist.

I def agree that the wolves have made them a lot more alert and
Edgy than they used to be. I hope ppl start following the baiting
Law and the deer start foraging during daylight again
Around here it seems that a lot of people stopped baiting
So we will see what happens. I don't gun hunt much
Due to the amount of people around here the deer just quit
Moving until after muzzle loader. Good luck

This will be the first year, since I was 12 (41 seasons) that I’m gonna miss. Freezer is pretty full. So I don’t see the need to shoot one, just for the fact of killing. Gonna hunt ducks instead. If we can keep enough water open? Busted ice for an hour this morning before setting decoys.
