Took him up for a long weekend during our teacher's convention here. With a move pending for us in the Spring, this will be the last run up North for us in the water with a short run for fisher still coming for us up there.

With the move coming, he took this trip seriously and wanted lots of pics to remember our trips by in the years to come. The scenery didnt disappoint and he was finally old enough to hump his way into some of my favorite flows. He nickname one "death march" and it never disappoints. We took a couple slobs in there after I gave that one a couple years to breathe since my last walk into that one. We didnt care so much about numbers this year, we wanted memorable critters and those we got. Some true slobs were caught.

Weather didnt cooperate but we didnt let it hold us back. He came home exhausted but content with the last water run up there. We collected some Chaga, some fur and some terrific castor and tons of laughs and memories. We didnt leave sad, but appreciative of our times up there. One short run remains for a fisher or two and we say our final good byes.

You could say that for sure Boco. Ive been lucky to know a landowner up there where we can stay and help with a bit of predator control on his piece. I told the boy to bring the good camera and take lots of photos up North. In a few years he'll pull those out and look at them and say wow we really did that stuff.

For me Im just lucky to be able to say I got to share in his growing up some on those trips. I hope he'll always remember those childhood trips with me and the sights smells and laughs. I remember taking this first pic of him up there like it was yesterday and look at him now!

Came back for the fisher opener and after a few tough days with near 2 feet of snow today the winds calmed, the snow got a crust and critters seemed to move. The whole northern thing is strange to me but I had a day anyone would probably be happy with. Beaver are all under ice now. 24 hour check was dang exciting!

A few more this weekend. Missed one too. He worked the bait pretty hard after the trap fired. I'm betting he'll be back. Good fun and not what I'm used to. 4 degrees F this morning. Much respect to you guys who this is 'normal' to!

None Boco. Not that I've seen up here. I'm mostly at about 2000 feet here, maybe there's a few down low, I'm not sure. North east Pennsylvania where I've cat trapped there are a ton of them and the fisher are starting to take off there now. Probably like a kid in a candy shop with the porkys they're so thick there.

It's all about the little squirrels and hares here. Get into that successional growth Pine along some other feature and I like my chances.

Another good male today.. One yesterday I've been having a few runs ins with since last week found a set, but ol' boy doesn't wanna climb.. Moved a ground box to that area to hopefully settle up with him this weekend..

Raced home to pick up the boy after he called me and said he REALLY wanted to come up for the last couple checks and carcass surrender. Just about done and then we head home to remind the Reds that we're not outta NJ just yet.
