Got my first skunk today ! I have the carcass and seem to remember reading it being an excellent coyote bait. How do I use it at a set ? Cut up down a dirt hole ? Buried whole with traps on either side ? -thanks

I don't know If you have site exposed bait laws. But If you don't bury that carcass and leave just a bit showing. We use to just leave the tail sticking out of the ground. I don't skin skunks.
Stake it down so the critter will have to work to get It. The more foot movement the better your chances.
Use some guiding and place your trap.

The buried skunk set is awesome for fox, after you catch all the other skunks and possums in the area.lol

I skin skunks. I just set some duke 1 1/2s for skunks. I'll skin them, and extract the quill while leaving the pods on the body, and use that fatty, carcass for cat bait. I'll slash the empty pods after hanging it up.
