I recently ordered a few different coon boards from top lot. I set one of my adjustable coyote stretchers down to the cat setting and it lines up perfect for the XL coon boards.
My question is has anyone ever used these solid boards for cats?
Is there some reason why a solid XL coon board is not used for cats?

Thanks God bless

Widths may line up but you may run out of length on a nice sized cat -pinned legs are a lot longer than coon. My cat boards are all about 6' in length compared to my coon boards at 4'

X2 with Eagleye, not much difference in size just the length.

I noticed that top lot doesn't sell a solid cat board, I also can't seem to find anyone who sells a solid cat board. Makes me think maybe there is something to this. Like they dont use solid boards on cat for a reason.

I can say that it is a pain to remove them from the adjustable top lots.

Pelts on collapsible/split boards can often still be tight in the neck area when the base of the board is collapsed, especially with cats. To avoid this use a head spacer that can be easily removed through the pelt mouth area. All that’s required is a standard clothes pin, a headless nail, some duct tape and a 6 or 8 inch sip tie. The spreader nail should be no more than 4 inches from the board tip to facilitate removal of the cloths pin spacer. Pull the spacer pin, squeeze the boards together and the pelt is removed very easily compared to the normal procedure with a collapsible board at the butt end.

I am not a one size fits all fur handler by any means. Cats, coyotes, coons all have distinct shape characteristics, and proper stretchers will accentuate these.
here is a coon board a coyote stretcher and a cat stretcher.

Notice the long taper on the coon board

Now the short head/neck taper on the coyote.

And finally the double angle on the cat stretcher, one angle at neck and the other at the shoulder.

Cats and coons are length specific pelts and need to be handled as such. Coyotes while length is less important should still be uniform.

Ok all good idea.
Monster Tom's, who makes the cat board in your picture. The top lots I have are adjustable for coyotes and cats. I'll see if I can upload a few pics and show yall how very similar the solid co coon and cat stretcher really is

The XL coon board is about an inch wider around the belly and stays that way till the bottom.
But the angles and the neck are spot on.

Does anyone know of a solid cat board on the market?

Colorado cat makes everything I and most of the western guys use.
When you put a cat and a coyote on the proper boards this difference is very noticeable.

When dealing with cats, getting the belly wide and rectangular is key a coyote/coon taper cant do it.

Hmm.. I'll have to try some of his forms next year. These top lot are all I'll have till then. Maybe he will be at the national and I can get some there.
There is a very distinct difference I can see it.
Thanks

This is what I was taught by my fur buyer and they seem to fit very well.

Yes otter boards are more the normal shape of otter than coon or coyote boards and do provide the length needed to obtain proper forming.
