Be careful what you wish for. A trend is happing for sure. You know all the small stores use to sell some hunting equipment. Not much around here anymore. Then stores like Dicks Cabela's and Bass Pro sold hunting equipment. Then Cabela's sold out to Bass Pro. Now you're saying Dicks is getting out of hunting market. Business always heads toward the best market to make money. Not a trend for the hunting market I want to see. I like to see tons of stores to buy from.

Went into one that opened in my vicinity. Wasn't impressed, never went back.
My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

Give the Mom and Pops a chance to scratch out a living selling sporting goods. Used to be the local sporting goods shop had good inventories of whatever you needed outdoors. Now it's bait and booze, just to survive. If the owner is a gun smith he's got a fighting chance. I also don't mind paying an extra $50-$100 to the local gun dealer/bow dealer for working with me to come up with the optimum bow/gun suited for me, or my kid, or my grandson. Unlike the fellas that waste their time trying this one and that one out and then go home and order the same online saving themselves $$$.

X2, We have locally a hardware store that you can get any gun, scope, etc. you want and they have many in stock. You may pay more, not much, but it is way better shopping than a cabelas or such. Good people.

NBC news said that Dick's is really taking a beating from low sales figures since they decided to dump AR's! WTG everybody.

If you ever get close to Black River Falls while tearing up (or down) I-94 in Wisconsin, you've got to stop in at Moe's Hardware Store and take a peek at their gun inventory. Good place to trade too. Trader Vic put me on this one. http://www.moehardware.com/guns.php

Still has some of that old hardware store feel too. Don't go there if your claustrophobic and the store is busy. Been in there when it's hard for two people to pass in the isles. Starks in Prairie Du chien is another one, can buy a gun or a fifth whiskey at same check out. Mac
