Dicks is playing both sides. I was at the one in Greensboro, an employee sent me to field n stream for what I was after. It seems they are owned by the same people now? So dicks is cutting the hunting supply's which will still be sold at FnS and concentrating on sports equipment. Dicks will get the liberal dollar while Field n Stream gets the hunters dollar, all going to the same cash register in the end. Haven't searched that yet but heard it from more than one reliable source.
Personal Accountability. That would fix most of our problems.

The Cabela's in Missoula is messed up too. My wife and I were talking to one of there older employees, she said that bass pro has it messed up. Her complaint was that they stock too much women's clothing now. My wife agreed, but I couldn't tell a difference.

I'm sorta relieved that Dicks is phasing out hunting stuff. Makes it easier to convince y friends to ignore them.
I had already taken "Filed & Stream" off my list and BassPro has always been a "gotta have it, hold my nose, get in/get out" event. They put in a big store near me and I have been in there about 5 times in the 15 years they've been open and came out aggravated every time.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I don't buy from Dicks however anytime you decrease the suppliers the price of the products go up where they are found. Be careful what you wish for they say.

Be careful what you wish for. A trend is happing for sure. You know all the small stores use to sell some hunting equipment. Not much around here anymore. Then stores like Dicks Cabela's and Bass Pro sold hunting equipment. Then Cabela's sold out to Bass Pro. Now you're saying Dicks is getting out of hunting market. Business always heads toward the best market to make money. Not a trend for the hunting market I want to see. I like to see tons of stores to buy from. If this is your goal, buy nothing online and nothing from big chain stores. Buy only from your local brick and mortar outlet that specializes in "We can order that for you". I walk through the the "once was Cabela's" Bass Pro store about once a week and spend nothing, my money is spent with individual suppliers; a couple of forum members for traps and lures and a one man shop for all fishing stuff. The BP trip is is for entertainment, they got a nice aquarium.

Finally somebody read the last line of my post. But it was still miss understood. I simply stated I like to see tons of stores to buy from. I do not not mind buying from brick and mortar stores. Sometimes I order on the internet from brick and mortar stores on some products. I do not need to go to a store to purchase something like bullets for reloading. But I like to see places I can play with some products. That's why I like large brick and mortar stores. Like I see a card shuffler for sale at Dicks store. You can bet your small local shop is not going to have that setting on the shelf. My point is if they sell hunting equipment I want to see them succeed. If we boycott everything people (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) about in hunting there be no stores.

That's about the only thing BPS has going for them. Or I can drive roughly the same distance over to Carthage and try the Old Cabin Shop... But their hours don't usually mesh with my 60 hour work week and it's hit or miss as to whether they have powder in stock. Mike

Don’t buy any sporting items there, way overpriced, same with Field n Stream stores, owned by Dicks. Have several others within 60 miles which I prefer to give my money too.

Good! Let the outdoor market become small mom and pop stores that have true customer service and are part of the outdoor heritage themselves. Local shops with local people know the areas, the good spots, the best lures and baits for any given area. Those are the stores we need, not some follow the flow trend to keep the pressure off. Remember that only dead things go with the flow, it takes live bodies to swim against the tide.
