Had a few sets the weather had exposed the pans of my traps. Nice black circle in front of the dirt hole flush with the dirt. Do k9's get spooked by this or do they just think it's something natural like a rock or leaf ? Will they avoid stepping on it ? -Thanks

They are not like cats who would step right on it.

I was always told if you want a set to catch fox or lynx then cover the trap. If you want to avoid foxes then leave it exposed.

That pan should be below the dirt level by at least 1/2" imo.

I have left traps with the wax paper exposed after some weather, when in hurry to check and later found a fox in it, but I've also had coons dig those traps out.

Ya, it probably had close to that before high winds and rain blew/washed away the thin layer of top dirt and exposed the peat moss. I covered it up when I saw it, I was just curious if it was a big deal. -Thanks
