Something warm.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

The brown jersey are warm, washable and cheap in bulk packages, good for many jobs, including trapping. I do wear deer skin gloves in warm weather. And often go with bare naked hands.

Brown Jerseys for me, 20 packs are about $7 on sale. When they get wet/muddy/stinky I throw them into a pile and they get washed & reused until holes form, they they get pitched.......

Leather gloves for setting. I carry one right handed rubber glove for baiting and lure.

As you can see, there are a variety of answers, everything from no gloves at all to full rubber. The answer you are looking for is, "what works for you" and what you have confidence using. I do not have the confidence to set traps barehanded. When I have set traps with bare-hands, the set went dead. Now that could have been do to many other reasons, not just my lack of gloves. I would have to take a year and make all sets barehanded to really confirm if using gloves was necessary. Gloves are personal choice. Set your traps and see what works.

I've become very accustomed to the Big Game Gut gloves, simply because they come insulated, and keep my hands warm. They also while insulated still have great dexterity and control. The best part is if they get bloody, muddy, etc. You simply just wash them off and go about your way as they're water proof. If it's warm and dry out I simply wear leather gloves.

I deal with a lot of cable so I like leather to keep from being poked, if its cold I wear a pair of brown jerseys under them.
