So I have been using Muck boots that go to my knee. The past 2 times I have went out I end up getting soaked because the water is taller than that. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I should get it needs to be very durable, as I am trapping rats in ditches and ponds. Also which do you prefer Hip boots or Waders. Thanks All!

Hip boots and a good long walking stick for me.
It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

Only time I use hippers is on spring beaver. Waders any other time of year. tried hippers on rats a couple of times and always ended up wet to my belly button. Tom

08--those waders will allow you to fart away, without killing the wildlife. Tom

No matter what you use you will always go over the top sometime. Kinda like the difference of 4 wheel drive or 2. With 4 you will try worse stuff and eventually you will end up stuck. Something about testosterone that makes us push the limits. Lol.
Wish I had more time to trap....

Okay I am going to get some waders. I don't mind investing in a quality pair, anyone have any recommendations for a great pair?

Yea waders for me. I can't tell you the number of times I would have my hip boots folded down to my knees walking in and then just step right off into the creek without pulling them up. Think a guy would learn after the first half dozen times. lol I hear ya man

I trap land and water together so I use hip boots before freeze up.They go on in the morning, and come off in the evening.Wear them all day,in the water,on the bike, and on the land. A lot of the old timers liked the chest waders for beaver trapping under ice in winter. They cut the hole in the ice with chainsaw, hopped into the water and located the entrance with their feet.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

If you wear waders make sure you get some type of water proof seat covers so you don't have wet seats all year long.
I'd go with waders If I had the choice.

I've always used hip boots, and get wet a few times each year. I always say I'm going to buy some waders but then find other traps/tools etc. to spend my money on, so I get hip boots because they are cheaper. The hip boots I'm wearing this year are last years pair. They were perfectly fine at the beginning of the season, they now have a hole on the knee on the right leg and a failed seam on the left foot. I get wet each time I step in the water! I'm buying WADERS next!
When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.
