Good Morning Everyone!

So I have been playing around with the trench setup this year and have come to like it. I just set another one yesterday, that being said while digging my trap bed I did not dig deep enough so the dirt ended up just a shade below ground surface. In order to make it look more like a trench I built the sides a bit higher with some hay/grass (CREP field). Does anyone see a problem with this working!?

Thanks!
Mike

It should work. That's what my hay sets sort of look like. Looks like a combination dirthole hay set.I wouldn't worry too much if the trench isn't picture perfect deep. Ive also mounded up dirt excavated from the trench on the sides to create barriers/funnels.

Sounds good Lumberjack391! I definitely would have but I think I ended up chucking all the excavated dirt haha. Thanks for the input!

When building sides up/out from dirthole, the sides should end, lined up with your pan.
The ends will act as a guide.

Your picture-
If your trap is blended at the end of your built up sides, that's good.
I would rather level off bed area and blend with nearby dead grass.
Plus put another set close by.

I've had poor results with 'the bird nest' look.
More than likely you will have a couple of Fox or Coyote this week in that there set, Shows what I know.

Thanks for the advice Hern! I actually have a traditional dirt hole on the other side of the hedgerow (about 20 to 30 feet). Up from that there is a stone quarry we lease and I have two sets up from this field about 100 yards.
