Here’s the set-up:
Spring feed pond, I noticed two distinctive runs (hard to see in the picture) red line, I was looking for a bank den but no visible entry at the shoreline. When I looked further at the run, it ended about 8’ from the shoreline and I noticed a hole at the end of the run (marked with the circle). Is it plausible to think that the bank entry hole starts 8’ from shore and the rat tunnel would be that long? The water depth at the hole is about 2’ deep.

I set both holes with 110's?

Is this common? I'm more accustom to seeing entry holes on the bank.

Somewhat common in fairly flat shallows. Just looked a pond that is a pretty similar setup.

If that's not open water, you have AWESOME ice for rat trapping!

When life gets me down..... you know hunting/trapping season is closed.

Open water- spring feed pond with a small tributary that runs into the pond, ice will form around the edges but rarely freezes over.

We have about 2" -3" of ice on ponds and lakes, with no snow the ice conditions are great for rat trapping... above is a nice run about 2 miles from the spring fed pond. A little more intuitive on where to set.

Went on the ice today checking for bubble runs. Even found some open water runs back in the tails. Chain saw and colony traps tomorrow and some baited body grips.

Found where 3 huts were dug Into by coon.
Sure wish we had some snow so I could set some cables.
UW Madison needs 4 red fox caught and collared might have to look into that gig. Let It snow let It snow. LOL

Agreed- I'm kinda dinking around until we have enough snow for CR's, with the warmer nights this week just focusing on open water and coons. I might put in a Sudden Valley set or two today- didn't have them with me yesterday.

I went out and spent $735.00 on new snow blower I need snow LOL

The trouble with my marsh Is that there must be a lot of fermenting weeds causing gas because there are so many bubbles you can't tell what your looking at. But there are some obvious set ups.

I'm finding that if it's a run set it.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?
