I have some traps that I stripped the paint off of that I am wanting to dye and coat in fmj. Can I dye them with liquid trap dye in a bucket in my basement? Its a little cold here to be boiling outside and don't have a heated shop to do it.

Just wash, rinse and dip. Real tannin, certain leaves, bark, berries, spanish moss, will work cold if the concentration is strong enough and the time long enough (all summer), but "dye" is meant to remove or neutralize rust by turning it into ferrous tannate. (I'm not sure the dye you speak of is or isn't tannin) and if you just stripped paint off there should not be enough rust to prevent using them.

Last year I was late getting started also. I power washed some & ran others through the dishwasher when it got cold. Then dipped them in FMJ in my basement where they stated for a few days drying & had no problems w/ them being dug any more than other years where everything was done outside.
