I have experience in that area and Kodiak is an amazing place. You really have to lay out your expectations for somebody to throw in their two cents. What is a good trip to you? River or Ocean? Personally I am partial to the Karluk, but I love fly fishing for steelhead.

Looking at a multi species ocean trip. Around July 1 plan on starting our trip with a mt McKinley trip then to kodiak for fishing total of 10 days. Might do I flight across the bay to the wildlife refuge too. I am open to suggestions, there will be 2 couples on our first trip to Alaska. Any must see items or skip this for sure tips.

The area around you at that lodge is known for good salt water kings and halibut.[Plus tanner crabs]Your early for salt water silvers the first week of july. Weather can be a factor any given day as not alot of places to hide. Streams in that area would be not the best and early july the dollies varden[trout]are not in streams yet ,they are better places if you are a fly fishermen etc.. Not familiar with that lodge personally, You will see bears etc. at Denali . i would skip the flight across the bay . Your flight from town to lodge will cover that experience. . A day in kodiak will be busy and fast. check out the two museums [refuge and baranof] in town, the russian church , Fort abercrombie too. And the harbors commercial fishing fleet down town. If time and have car say a ride out road past coast guard base. best place to eat in town the powerhouse and the rendezvous out past the base. I am usually out of town fishing in july but you never know. let me know when you get close. It will not get dark till midnight. be ready for sleep deprivation. Hope and know you will enjoy the emerald island.
