Well with the button clips you don't have to build an outlandish base to hook the vice grips to. And you don't have to weld re bar to the vice grips and you don't have to weld the vice grips to the outlandish base. And you don't have to build a base. Should I go on? LOL
You could just put a anchor In the floor and screw In a eye bolt and hook up the cabled button clips to It. And by doing this you gain about 18" of pulling height. And of coarse your cost goes way down by eliminating the base and the vise grips.

Beav, have you lost your buttons?
I have all the above- base with vice grips, plenty of height, & hoist. Am not knocking the button system. I can't improve what I use now. Easy peasy.
Easy as closing a vice grip.

If you are starting to set up area to skun, with the buttons, then you would have to bend to the floor each time to attach hide. That's a pain.
I see the advantage using buttons on a horizonal skinner if you didn't design it right the first time.
Thanks for sharing the button system. That's a very clever system.

But Hern some are restricted by height and eliminating the base would help with that problem. Bending down once per hide Is not a big problem. LOl

Bending is a problem for this ole guy

I have the right set up for my fur shed.
Not debating advantage on one rig over another, I see where the buttons will aid some folks. Nifty product.

Beav does the base spin like the ones with the visegrips do? That's the only concern I would have so I wouldn't be twisting up the cable on my winch. But otherwise these are peaking my interest more each day.

Hern with my set up once the hide Is off the carcass the button cables just fall off the hook up. Then you have the hide in hand you just slip the buttons off the hide. You just bend over Once. LOL

AS to spinning the carcass I never do that. On coon I open on the bench then hang and pull to the neck. I have cut off the front feet so they are just pulled though with no cutting. Then It's no big deal to just cut around the head with out doing any spinning of the carcass.
Coyotes are a different story but I still don't do any spinning of the carcass.
Actually with the two cables hooked to one anchor point there Is a enough give so you can twist the carcass back and forth enough to work around the head with out compromising the winch cable.
