So I am trapping a 0lace that once had tons of beaver a few years ago they were trapped out so now probably 2 to 3 beaver at the most have moved in again and I'm trying to trap them out once again, I set a really nice castor mound and run set, somehow the beaver got the trap wrapped around a stick on the way down the drowning cable and he somehow pulled his foot out of a #5 Bridger so my question is what do I do now?? Should I move down the swamp to a different property that has beaver problems or hold out a couple more days with the same sets??

Well, that particular beaver won't go to that set again nor will it be interested in that same scent. Other beaver that are there might still get caught there, though. You might try changing set locations and either use a food lure or just use a blind foothold set where it has a crawl out. A submerged bodygripper with a dive log in a channel will also be a good alternative. Snares would be another option if you can use them there.

I have found that at this time of year if my beaver sets have not been productive for a few days, it is likely that they won't be in the future without moving them or changing things up. It is different in the spring when you will have different traveling beaver visiting your sets.

I'd reset it for others then make a slide with no lure, then a castor mound also with NO lure or a different lure....not castor based, like sac oil or anise.

What county you in, have you joined our state assn, and asked officers off our site for mentor to ride along with OR joined us on the nctrapper site?
