I have never had this much trouble catchin cats. I have tried and tried thos year. Got the same great spots set up that normally produce with no luck this year. Out temps have been weird this year though. Is thispart of it? Sets are in the draws on trails that they move down, and i havw caught off of before. Anybody got any suggestions or tips on what to do? Im stumped

What’s weird is I never set for cats specifically, but catch them in my coyote sets. I really don’t know what the difference is between the two sets. Hopefully I’ll learn something from this.

Same here, last year by this time I had 5 bobcats and so far this year a big fat Zero. Plus everyone else that traps around here is also doing very poorly. Crazy year so far.

From what I have seen sometimes year-to-year they shift routes within an area. On my line there is a spot that produced 2 bobcats and 3 coyotes last year but nothing this year. I see tracks less than 1/4 mile away from that spot.

Not much luck on cats here possum either. Caught one little one before cat season, but thats it. The weather here has been out of whack since summertime.

I always have better luck with lows in the teens or colder. I think it's mainly because the grinners don't plug up my sets!

I can't speak for everyone but we've got some pretty good sized coons/possums. You'd have to have it set pretty high to keep them out especially when they're hitting most of my traps with their back feet as I'm back for the cats that don't want to commit. My solution has just been to set a number of sets on tracks, and wait it out as you knock of the undesirables. It doesn't take long to clean up the local population.
