Anyone out there make their own live traps for bobcats? Pictures would be great. Specifically looking for how everyone does their trigger/treadle mechanisms on a homemade trap.

ADC used to have a nice thread on here about that, but I think it's gone now. Perhaps he'll post some of that stuff again.

Yeah that would be awesome if they did. I tried searching it on here and I couldn't find anything. Were they mostly welded wire live traps that they had on there?

Dirtydog, what do you use for the guide for your doors? I have looked all over the internet net for a C or U channel that would fit the cage trap application.

Most farm supply places can order you whatever you need. Its usually better to go this route than pay shipping to your house or shop.

The quality of 1x1 welded wire has gone bad the last couple of years. Although it says 1x1, when you measure across say 26 squares it may be 25 7/8 or 26 1/8. can play heck trying to bend or ring on the bend. If you order local make sure they have a return policy.

When I made my cages I used 1" x 1" 12 ga. gal after welding pre-cut panels that I got from Klubertanz Equip Co. My cages were 36" L by 18" high, by 12" wide, my 5'rail's were pre formed like dirtydogtrapping did. I used a conie style trigger that I bought from Kirk DeKalb. I have caught coon, cat, badger, you name it and the wire looks like nothing has ever bothered it.
