Any of you guys treat your support wire? If so, what do you do to it. I normally unroll it and dip in vinegar or put in dish washer fo get pil off then dip like snares. But kinda pushed for time. Thanks

Never treated any type of support wire. I see no need.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Coyotes are very familiar with wire, cable, and chain debris scent in the bush from logging, farming etc.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

It is not needed-BUT-Using rusty wire will lose you some fur if you use wire to tie off as well as support. If I have a few rolls of wire laying around when waxing my snares I will throw the wire in too.It keeps them from getting rusted out when hauling them around on the beaver line, etc.Rusty tie off wire should be re-inforced if you leave snares out and inactivated over the summer.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

I degrease and throw the wire in the trap dye when I boil traps.

I paint them incidentally as I dip my killpoles. On my short 24" rebar stakes with the wire welded for coon and fox I throw them in the dye barrel. I don't like getting all the rust all over me and I think it'll prolong the life of the wire since I reuse it for years.

I'll put maple leaves in a 5gal bucket. Rain water, and let the leaves decay. I use this with my T stakes and is how i stain my snares. Longer the soak the darker they will get.

Galvanized wire won't work for the type snaring I do. Its too hard to wrap on the stakes and SUCKS to weld on.

Beav post me a picture of your set up.

I made up some myself out of galvanized wire. I like it cause it is stiffer!
But the rust blends in well with nature

God Bless

Dustin
