Actually, the one single study that made this report, that seems to be the only one with this finding, said that it's POSSIBLE for a possum to eat 5000 ticks a year. They put a possum in a cage, released a bunch of ticks, then counted how many it ate. I probably don't have to point out the problems here...

I read that possums don’t actually search out and feed on ticks, but rather they are adept at grooming themselves and will eat any ticks they find on themselves.

I’ve fleshed a lot of possum and don’t see tick bites on the leather like you see on coon, fisher, fox, and coyotes.

In my experience any bait that makes good bait for any cirtter works better for possum.
