I use compression, not sure if they’re better but IMO they’re easier to remove from a dead and frozen animal. Since the spring sticks out the end just find it and get a pair of cutters between the end of it and the ferrule stop, cut and the whole snare pulse off.

I use the compression springs on wolves.Mainly because I have a great big pile of them and they do the job just fine.
I will try the stingers if I ever run out of the compression springs.
No need for springs of any kind on fox or cats.They cant compress them anyway unless they tangle,and tangling(gravity) compresses the carotids just fine on those smaller animals without any springs.
Coyotes don't exist in the bush where I trap..

I use stinger and power clips on long extensions i get a quicker dispatch than i got with compression with nothing to tangle in. Im wanting to use that same spot again with little or no disturbance since the stake is usually froze in .

Don’t matter as long as it’s a 25 pound spring.
