Smaller animals, that the coyotes feed on ten to move more as the moon get darker.

I wonder if it's the prey animals ability to see and avoid the hunter.

The full moon just plain sucks for coyotes/fox, but cloudy nights and fronts help a little. For the last 50 plus years ALL my best catches have been around the dark moon. The moon effects us all!

Common sense catches alot of fur..

I have mixed results. We all have our anecdotal experience. Here’s a study worth reading. See page 202. I tend to think Boddiker is correct. This year I had more catches under a fuller moon which is different from years past. One great coyote caller put it another way- “Did you check the moon before you ate breakfast this morning? No? Well neither did the coyote. They like to eat every day just like you.”

Full moons and the day or two before and after suck for k9 trapping for me. Not impossible, but i never expect much. However i usually seem to pick up a few bobcats during that time.

It seems like if the line has been set prior to full moon, the catch drops during the full moon.

If a new line is set during the full phase on new ground the catch is fine.

Have watched to moon phases and effect on the line for 40+ seasons.

I find that warm weather and a lack of snow during the winter has more of a effect on my catch then any moon phase. Coyotes just don't move In conditions like that .
