This is a continuation story, only one year later. I took a long weekend again on New Year's and set eight traps behind my house on our eight acres. I'll take my full week vacation in a couple weeks that I set out a full line on a big hunting club. Anyway, the original post last year was about this time and was on a black coyote that I caught. My wife had a neighbor tell her that they saw a black coyote a couple times this summer so I knew another one was a possibility. It rained this past Saturday but I did manage to get out between rains and stake eight traps and pre-bait some dirt holes that I dug and pre-baited the weekend before. Based on the digging I had I was pretty sure that I would do pretty good. Sunday I set the five dirt holes and three lure only flat sets. Monday morning I had three coyote and a possum but on blackie. One of them was on a gland lure flat set and the other two on dirt holes. Tuesday morning I could see blackie from the house in one of the dirt hole remakes and when I got out there I had another coyote triple. Yesterday morning I pulled them with only a coon on one of the gland lure flat sets.
I did videos instead of pictures but did take a screen shot from the video on blackie and you can see one of the others in the background. This black one is really nice with the standard black with tan undercoat and the white star chest. Nice but not nearly as pretty as last years silver tip blackie. Last years still at the taxidermist but will update when I get it back. I'll probably sell this one to a local taxidermist.
Thanks! I'll do a post in about three weeks on my big Okiecntry line.
