Thinking of going after squirrels with some 110's--putting them on a pole going up to fence or tree. I wouldn't bait the trap, but may put some bait between the traps.
We have a couple of neighborhood cats who wander through and I don't want to catch them.
Could a cat get it's head stuck in a 110?
Little smear or squirt of bait on the pan of a 5x5x18 double door cage trap will take squirrels with ease. Even if 110's were legal to use here, I'd still use cages. To risky when you deal with homeowners that have animals and kids.

Use a sweet bait or P-butter, not a fishy bait.

220s work better on cats. I was trying to avoid the cats. At least one of them anyway--keeps to his own business hunting birds and crawly things. The other one though thinks it lives here and can be found lounging on our patio furniture. That one.... ...

Will do. Have caught a number in a small duke cage trap with peanuts thrown behind the pan. I was hoping to use the 110's as it saves the step after the catch. No kids in the area, but if a cat might get caught in there, I'll just stick with the cages. Can I assume a thin snare pole would be cat friendly?

If you think pine martin, with a #1 longspring on a small platform nailed about head high on a tree, with an ear of corn spiked to this, so the squirrels will get into the trap, is the best method. The squirrels will fall off the platform and expire. Cats will not crawl up a tree to get at an ear of corn. I'm fairly green in all this, and only know of pole sets for Marten. With this set, is the idea that as the squirrel picks at the corn, eventually it will sit or step on the pan and....! Can't visualize it completely: I'm guessing the long spring sits flat on the platform, but Do you place the cob so runs parallel to the tree or perpendicular? And the bottom of the cob would be how high over the pan? Thanks.

YES, A PERFECT FIT....... is the answer to your question.
Sweet baits typically do not attract felines tho
For squirrel jobs I thread a 1"x3" pc of sponge onto 110 triggers that've been pulled tight to each other and smear PB on both sides of the sponge. Been known to get 2 at a time. I like the neighbor too much to take the chance that their cat will be the one to decide to try a new presentation of PB. The nosy neighbor on the other side would be the first to cast suspicion on a guilty me, and I don't think I've seen a thread here (yet) on how one goes about breaking the news to the neighbor about their previous pet. Thanks though for the suggestion, though. Will keep it in mind should something more natural happen to the local cats.

A box with the 110 inside and 2" holes drilled in each end. Leathal and cat can NOT GET INSIDE
I have some RBGs (round body grips) 110 I do to his inside sections of PVC pipe with caps on the ends with holes drilled in them I have caps with differnt size holes so depending on what I'm targeting I can keep larger critters out

Sounds more cat friendly. Are squirrels curious and like to explore holes or are they more attracted to the smell of the bait? Sounds more cat friendly. Are squirrels curious and like to explore holes or are they more attracted to the smell of the bait? I always bait it Makes sure they want to enter
