I enjoy others pics so I figured I’d show a few from my December trapping. Trapped for three weeks, hard, and did pretty good by my standards. Caught my first wolves with some great tips from a real wolf trapper. Mink continue to terrorize my marten line, but they are a nice bonus.

Nice! Big difference in the size of those two wolves.Or does it just look that way in the pic.

Not sure how they got sideways but thanks Surveyor!!! Ha, wild. Neck exercises are good.

Boco, picture is a bit of it but it was a male and female. Both adult but he was a monster. I caught a third as well at a different set and it was a small one. Smaller than that female.

Well done! Your marten population is much better than mine! Another topic.
Good luck at the auction.

Just doing what I want now.

Your marten look nice and fluffy! Nice work on the season and best of luck on the sale.

Nice looking Marten. Those dark ones at the bottom really caught my eye. Good stuff.

Nice pile of fur.

I just worked the kink out of my neck smile

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Is that throat patch typical of your marten?
Are those off the islands or mainland?
Nice work.

Waggled, it isn’t typical for the most part. Around 10% or so. Most are white. They were caught on a combination of Main and Islands.

Many years ago I trapped some marten on Admiralty Island, they didn't look like any other marten I have ever caught in SE Alaska. They looked like giant Martes caurina, like you find in the lower 48. If I recall correctly they had large orange throat patches.
I think I heard once that the marten on the ABC islands were introduced, if so, I wonder where from?

That variety is only on Admiralty amd Kuiu Islands, and is indeed weird.
That said, I get a lot of orange throat patches on the mainland.

That's a good haul and some nice fur.....but I think I gave myself whiplash on the neck exercises.
