Which states have trap check law and which don't? There is legislation introduced to make a mandatory 48 hour trap check in ND. ND G&F says ND is the only state without a trap check law. I do not feel that is correct. Not that it will make much difference in the out outcome of this. Just woundering.

1 A BILL for an Act to create and enact a new section to chapter 20.1-07 of the North Dakota

2 Century Code, relating to duty to check traps and snares; and to provide a penalty.


3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:


4 SECTION 1. A new section to chapter 20.1-07 of the North Dakota Century Code is created

5 and enacted as follows:

6 Duty to check traps and snares.

7 An individual who sets or lays any trap or snare for a fur - bearing animal shall check the trap

8 or snare at least once every forty - eight hours.

nondrowning set = daily check (exception: weasel box with correct size hole)

drowning set = up to 4 days

under ice set = no set time period

Oklahoma - Traps must be tended once each 24-hour period.
