90 caught total so far , 6 mange and 1 eagle destroyed .One mange was real nasty and the rest wee just bad enough to not make them salvageable . Ive got cameras on 2 baits and a couple coyotes that are slipping past snares and getting in to eat . There are good spots real close to the bait that I could set with snares but also 3 eagle eating there as well .. I dont want to catch the eagles and I dont want them wrecking the dogs so cant set em . If I catch a coyote 20 - 30 yds from the bait they are usually and I say usually safe from eagle attack , if you have lots of fresh bait to keep the birds happy.

When I dump the carcass in a pile. The eagles normally eat the coyote firsts beside the beaver and then others after that. I see they like coyote meat the best for how it looks and what you stated about going after it also. I did had a young eagle took out a possum on time out of my foothold on me and ate some of it .It was a nice big one also.

Ive had guys up here tell me that they also throw coyote carcasses in their bait pile , but what concerns me is maybe it will start train them to start eating the good ones as well . So for the time being I will stick with roadkill deer and beef scraps .

I am with you on that. It is not my bait pile it is just to get rid of the carcasses and a land owner let me dump them on there since it is close to home for me.
