I always change my trap. But thats just me.
Fur doesn’t seem to be worth much. The essence is where the coin is.

Always thought a skunk hat would be cool though.

I always remake the set with the same trap. I'd the skunk sprayed then most likely the dirt around and in the trap bed smell like skunk. I always sell my skunks and if I could catch them like I can coon I would catch all I could. For me they pay about double what a coon does.

I never change out my traps after a skunk catch. The area is going to smell like skunk anyway so don't worry about it. I'm not sure about the hides because this is my first year of selling them but the essence is high dollar. Minnesota Trapline Products is buying it for $15+ per oz. Jeff Dunlap is buying it for about the same price or he'll give you $20 value if you trade it to him for lure & bait. You can inquire around, lots of other people are buying it too. Last I checked Law Dog on here was buying it too.

No real good reason to put in a clean trap and make it smell like skunk, when you’ve already got one there that already smells like skunk.
