Yesterday i dumped a bucket of muskrat carcasses right next to a tractor path on my hunting lease, I set a beaver swamp that's on the lease Yesterday I'll be pulled out of there tomorrow. This morning when i pulled up next to the carcass pile it looked like the red and gret fox had quite a fiesta last night! Should I make a few sets nearby and how far away would you set and what type of set?

Not sure what your regulations are for NY, here in Wyoming you can't set on visible carcasses.

I would stay far enough away to keep the birds of prey out of your sets. Did the fox set up any type of trails to and from? Maybe blind trail sets or scent post near by.

Carcass has to be covered if trapping near it. I would make sets nearby as was mentioned and catch them coming or going.

or pull a rat carcass out of the pile and make a cache set leaving a few inchs of the tail exsposed. And a scent post close to it for those overly excited critters.
