January 'rats, gotta love 'em. Fully prime, no bite marks yet, just gorgeous.

I caught a couple in late December and they were really nice. Wish I could have caught more before the river froze up.

And fat...heavy!

Almost as good as they get. Catch a rat in January February or March and now you got something!

Jealous here. Idiot game commission closes our season about when they start to get good.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I have been getting bite marks on my rats recently. Last 5 all had one or two bite marks near the back end. All were caught in baited conis.
I guess other rats are coming to the bait and taking a bite on one of their deceased friends?

The rats are starting to look good around here. We don't have many, but still fun to catch.

Now I'm seeing some fresh bites, though not too many. Snowing real good out there. Freshened up sets this morning and added a few more. This one is darker, but still so beautiful.

I think rats have the nicest fur of the furbearers I catch.

January is starting to act like January.
Generally I’m no fan of snow in the marsh and really don’t like that cold. However when it comes ahead of cold it’s a blessing.

Been floundering around out there on the ice since before deer season. Mother Nature says take a break. I’m ready and willing. Gonna rest up for that next big push !
