Looking for a spray paint recommendation for 1x19 cable. The latex-based spray I've tried doesn't stick very well. Anyone have one they use and like?

I’ve always had a hard time painting my cable. Just seems like the paint doesn’t want to stick, even after degreasing. Now I just boil in logwood dye.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

I used some rustolem spray paint. Never sprayed any cable before but It seemed to work ok.

When I use paint, I use krylon spray paint camo colors. Formula 1 works great if I have quite a few to do as well. They don't need to be completely covered, just enough to shadow them some.

I saw the Crylon, and have never tried it, but bought another can of flat swamp grass camo Rustoleum today. I'll mist them to take the gleam off, but not gum up the action and I'll do it close to barrel stove heat on a clothes line. 2 dozen at a time. From different angles.

You can make different colors with trap dye if you use less you will get a reddish brown color and not the blacker color!

I found that it took about 3 weeks before the paint smell went away. And they hung outside for that whole time.
Some say it doesn't make any difference and that may be true but I would rather have them odor free.

Me and my trapping partner have taken 21 coyotes so far and I don't see any difference In catch ratio between the painted ones and the un painted ones.
But the painted ones look good.

It's 25 below here right now, and dry. Rustoleum dries real quick, and no smell, overnight. I've been painting snare supports as well, in the last few days, and deploying as needed.

I just dipped 10 dozen snares and 3 dozen 280 in formula one and I am very satisfied.I bought a gallon.I dipped the snares 2 times and the 280 3 times. The 280 where new and not rusted at all.I did pressure wash the 280 but did nothing but dip the snares.Only bad thing is I should of got it done last summer because it can be a bit messey.I put down old rubber roofing in the fur shed and it was fine.I think it worked WAY better than spray paint, seems durable and has no smell to me.

I paint mine pretty much the same way Les does except I do it in the summer and let them hang for a couple of weeks. I see a big difference on refusals with painted snares. I paint flat tan to blend in with the dry winter grass.

I can't believe that cop put me in the back seat when I clearly called shotgun.

Jason, I had been using the camo rustolem on my 7x7 not sure if I did any 1x19 but Newt's formula1 brown does a nice color with 1 coat for me, first year using it. But its faster then spray painting for me and coats better. Still like my spray paint for certain sets.

Thank you for the replies. Although I've snared crotters in bright shiny snares, I just like them darkened a little for myself. Lol I will pick up some formula one bc it sound like everyone is pretty satisfied with it.
