Any one ever used those round trout pellets they use to feed trout in nursery's. I've used different baits and they all work but I'm curios if trout pellets were ever tried. If I get a break in the weather I'll find out myself but just thought I'd ask.

I’ve heard of guys using them. The guy who has the YouTube channel (coyote trapping school) he did a video and was talking about the floating fish food pellets. I’d think they would work.

Stop over cooking your meat! It isn’t gamey, it’s over cooked!

I've used catfish pellets for a couple years now. I think they are similar. I've had good success with them mixed with molasses

I use the floating catfish food also. I mix mine with 50/50 molasses and pancake syrup.

Dfabs could you elaborate on your mixture, and the size of the batch you make at a time ?

I buy the feed grade molasses in a one gallon jug. I mix equal parts pancake syrup and molasses in a syrup bottle. All the syrup really does is make the molasses easier to pour.
Now, I have a 1 gallon bucket and a 3 gallon bucket. I fill the one gallon bucket up about halfway with floating catfish food and stir in the syrup/molasses mix until the pellets are generously coated, then I dump them into the 3 gallon bucket until it’s full. I get a 50lb bag of fish food for $15 and it lasts me a couple of years.

I use dry molasses to mix with fish flavor dry cat food. The dry molasses smells and tastes good.

I use nothing moist or wet in a dog proof trap. No sense in creating a freezing problem.

Willy, I use a very similar concoction, with a very successful season. However, mice gave me fits, while a few took their last bite, more satisfaction than a coon. You have same issues? Tried golf ball, cups, and moving trap short distance. Decided part of the job.

Try ztrap’s trap-caps. Coon pull them out but cats and mice don’t.

Last year or maybe late 2017, Clint Locklear put out a video on using floating fish food and his Coon Collector, which he says is liquid smoke, anise and “other goodies”. I bought a bottle, tried it with the floating fish food pellets and it worked a bit better than everything else I used. That being said, I found a fine dribble of it helped a lot better as a trailing scent

It may be my 68 year old nose, but I could hardly detect an odor after heavily spraying it onto fish food pellets stored in a plastic container with the lid on tight. I heavily sprayed it again with the same results. It may have been the volatile nature of the liquid smoke and anise, the fact my basement was 65 degrees, or the fact my 68-year old nose couldn’t detect it. Maybe this stuff works better in colder temperatures, I don’t know.

The fish food pellets didn’t fall apart and apparently some coon found them appealing.
