So I made some sets for coyote yesterday, but over night last night we got a little snow and some high winds. I think a couple of my sets drifted over a little bit. Not much for snow in the forecast this week and constant freezing temps. I'm just debating going and cleaning them off but there will be boot prints. 10+ inches of snow here

Drifted snow hardens quickly. Even a couple inches over your traps is no es bueno.

If we had wind and that much snow I would be out of business or sure. We are wide open so the drifts would be 3’ deep. If it snows more then 3” here I sweep them off. When possible I set were they won’t get drifted in, and on the south side of fences, tree rows, cover, ect... so they dry faster and get good sunlight

I have been battling a lot of that this year. My sets are now all right on the edges of roads or two tracks where I see lots of sign. They are close enough to the road that I can reach over with a broom and sweep them off without stepping out of the tire tracks. I have only set one off doing this so far. Disclaimer- I haven't caught anything so this was just an idea that I am sharing. This weather is killing me.

Most of the sets weren't covered too bad this morning.

Furfool,
Is that really a coyote? Got an awful wolfy looking face.

It does but a little button nose and skinny legs and paws.

I'd say coyote, I've heard people talking about the wolf and coyote crossbreed coming out of Canada down here to central, NY but I can't say if it is true or not. This male weighed 42 lbs, caught one last week that weighed 44 lbs

That is the most odd looking yote I have ever seen, looks like it has more wolf in its genes than most. I would have released it thinking it was someones sled dog if I walked up on it.

I lived in central NY most of my life. Can't say I ever saw/killed one that looked like that. Weight wise that's right in the ballpark for back there.
That one has a REAL white looking face and ears.
Zagger have any comparisions or anyone else from back in that area?

DNA testing has pretty much proved the wolf/coyote hybrid in the Northeastern US.

I gotta admit, my first look I would have sworn it was a dog (husky). Very interesting several had questions on this also. Would be interesting to see additional pics on that one.
