Not as bad as a kidney stone but definitely not fun. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Classic location - joint of big toe.

I've had it for 20 years, the best thing you can do is get medicine from the doctor, I've tried everything and medicine is the only way to go. I take allopurinol and it works pretty good. I'm guessing you just had a minor flare up because I've had a kidney stone and I would take that over some of the pain I've had with gout lol

I just got over my last gout flare up they aren't one of my favorites that's for sure, cut out the beer and soda pop anything with a high sugar content or beef isn't your friend until it's over with and gone. Drink lots of water and get to the Dr I've tried the start cherry pills and for what ever reason was getting headaches that just wasn't any fun maybe it would be different for you ?
I'm on a high blood pressure med and a handful of vitamins trying to rebuild my immune system still it's a work in progress.
I wish you well !!!

I had it for a while and indomethacin was the answer. Then I discovered one of my blood pressure meds was causing the problem. Switched meds and haven't had it since.

When I have a flair up, I take a dose of dexamethasone in the morning and it takes care of it. Been lucky and not had any problem for 3 years.

Slightly better this morning. Will try to see the doc on Monday, blizzard permitting. Why does this kind of stuff always happen on a weekend? On New Years Day I had a kidney stone that was analyzed as a uric acid stone so I know there is an issue. Unfortunately I have a heart condition that limits my use of certain remedies and the cardio meds may cause some of this stuff. With actual temp lows of minus 30 forecast for next week I'll probably take the easy way out and freeze to death. LOL

400 mg a day here and haven't had any problems since they found the right level to bring the acid levels down.

get to a doctor, all that cherry juice bs wont touch it once its flared up and hot.... drink LOTS of water... once you've had it, you'll know what it feels like when its starting to come on and should be able to head it off with left over meds

I've only had two bad case, also in the joint of my big toe. I couldn't even take the weight of a bed sheet on it to sleep.
Lots of water and loose shoes were the only things that helped me. It's been a few years with no more flare ups.
