Ok so I've read all the archived answers and know the proper temps for drying fur. With that said my garage is small and has NO heat and there's no way the green furs are coming in the house per my wife. I live in Va and usually we have mild winters but for the most part my fur has been siting in temps from 20-65. Seems to be drying fine and slow. My question is how bad is this on fur and what are my options, I have thought about a space heater but garage = flammable stuff. Thanks

Is your climate fairly humid? If so get a good dehumidifier and place some fans to keep the air circulating and you should be good to go.
Getting rid of moisture Is the X factor when drying furs.

I'd say this time of year there is no humidity. even with all the rain we've had it's been cold so that keeps it down. Think I may add the fan to my future furs Thanks!

Do as The Beav said re keeping the air circulating and it will be fine.

Air circulation is important for drying furs. Mine set for a few days in my heated side of shed (skinning and fleshing room) with fan on 24/7. After drying they are removed from boards/wire and I hang them in unheated section of shed until I sell or ship in April

Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!

If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

I’m in the same boat with the garage but I bought one of those oil filled electric radiator heaters for 30 bucks and that with the fan seems to get it done and no risk of fire with those heaters

I lived in Stafford, VA for 4.5 years. You have plenty of humidity even in the winter. Air Circulation is your friend! My first winter there in 2012 several of my beaver hides that were drying in my garage ended up getting some mold on them. The fans helped stop that, plus wiping my hides down once in a while with a rag helped as well.
