Arthur ( arthritis) has paid me a visit this year and has definitely overstayed his welcome. Looks like he's here to stay. Traded the chisel for the chainsaw and will be using the snowmobile or the 4 wheeler more to get around. It sure has been an eye opener. To all those old timers who said I'd pay for all those stupid things I did when I was young I now stand humbly before you and proclaim you were exactly right. And when any of you speak now, I'm all ears- you indeed have some valuable information. If I had known I was going to live this long I would've taken better care of myself. However, it could be worse- I have a lot of blessings today-that includes seeking the counsel of my elders.

Same here. About fifteen years ago I went to the doctor thinking I had tweaked my neck. I thought maybe he might recommend me a good chiropractor. The X-rays showed I had arthritis in my neck. At forty-five years old, I wasn't thinking arthritis. Some days are better than others.

Yep setting conis by hand and freezing the hands will come back to bite a guy over time, I worked with my hands a lot over the years and feel it now I can't pop many knuckles like I could before and if one pops making cages its not the relief it once was it just hurts. Dropping things is just a habit now with the less dexterity, I often say I should just throw it on the floor and pick it up as I'm just going to drop it anyways. LOL

Yep Jerry, I second those statments! I just got some new to me product last night, called ortho ease from Young living. That is the company name that handles it. Dang, what a difference on my hands. Sure makes them feel better for awhile. Don't take but a few drops. Only thing that would last for ever to fix it would be amputation in my opinion!

Worst of the Itis brothers i've heard.

My first job just out of high school was as freezerman at a local ice cream factory in Watertown SD. The ice cream was manufactured and packaged in a room at normal temperature or even warmer than that in summer but the products were immediately placed into a chute that led to the first sharp freezer which was operated at minus 70 with strong circulating wind. After the sharp freeze the various products were transferred to other freezers where they were stored at about 0 F. Although I was provided a parka and gloves, I was 17 and bulletproof and because it would only take me a few minutes to pull the freshly made products from the chute and stack them in appropriate places, I often just grabbed gloves and dashed in and did the job with the only obvious trauma if a metal basket touched bare forearms when stacking. The older folks who had worked there for years warned me that I would pay for the cold shocks when I got old but I really never expected to get old so I often just dashed in as I was. WELL, the warnings were correct. That behavior coupled with years of other abuse, such as setting body grips under ice with arms bared to the shoulder and dipping minnows from buckets with bare hands have all come home to roost. I now ache about every where it is possible to ache, and as a result of frostbite on several fingers have very reduced blood circulation to those spots so they want to keep freezing. I have tried a bunch of products and some do help with the aches and pains but they only last for a short time and if they have to be swallowed almost all cause me other problems that are worse than the aches. I WAS warned. Now I tell all the younger folks within earshot "do not get old" but no one ever listens.

I know what you mean .I got diagnosed at 23 with psoriatic arthritis that was 24 years ago, i was having neck problems and finally went to the dr and that's when I found out. Now here lately my knees have been giving me problems so I went back and now I have another pill I have to take but its helping . But your right some days are better than others.

I thought having it in the hands, wrists and knees was a downer. This year after years of back problems Art decided to take up residence in my lower back. They say don't give into it, but rolling out of bed in the morning has turned into a nightmare. It usually takes well over an hour before the parts get limbered up enough to even think about starting the day. Yep the old timers were right on the money.

started in my fingers. Asked my Dr. and she said we'd try this. So far it's worked wanders.

I have a lot more to look back on than to look forward to. It happens.

I had osteoarthritis in both hips when I was 46. I had my right hip replaced when I was 50, the other hip when I was 54. I’m 60 now, both hips doing good.

I had an MRI a few years ago as I had numbness, tingling, sciatica, and feet burning constantly. Feels like I have shoes 2 sizes too small. Two specialist told me I have thickening of the spine. No bad discs or vertebrate out of line. Just that the tunnel thru my spine where my spinal cord runs is getting smaller and aggravating the spinal cord. Now last year an X ray showed arthritis setting in on my lower back and neck. I had a complete blood work up for males a month or so ago. Dr. told be I had a better report than a lot of men in their 40's as far as blood goes. My organs are in good shape but between a knee that's pretty much bone on bone , a hip that's wore out, both shoulders that have been patched up and the arthritis and spinal stenosis there are days it slows me done a little. But ya just got to keep going. I'm in my 60s and I ain't ready for the furnace yet. Plan on keeping busy as long as I can.

I have Art in my hands, knees, hip, arms,and neck, just about every where. It slowed me up for some time but is controlled a bit now. I take Glucosamine Chondroitin and MSM to combat it. All them are joint lubricants and together they work for me. Hands used to so stiff on waking fingers hurt to bend. Now still a little stiff but that goes away in minutes after waking. Good stuff.
Took the G and C for years, Old dog started having hip problems to where he could not walk much and was always in pain. Vet said give him MSM and explained how it works to lubricate the joints. Dog still has problems but not any where near what they were. I started the MSM with the dog and it was pretty amazing.

Sounds like you have it figured out willvalley. I too take a healthy dose of glucosamine hydrochloride, chondroitin sulfate sodium, hyaluronic acid, calcium fructoborate and MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). Don't know what the heck it all is, but it's about the only way I can keep moving. Before I started this cluster of pills I could hardly move some days. Now I take it like I'm supposed to. Helps keep me going!!

Be careful with this! It nearly caused me to bleed to death, and caused a neighbor to have kidneys shut down! did kill some pain.

Glucosemine chondroitin msm has helped me a lot!

Saving this for future reference. With all the x-rays I've had for my back and hips, my Doc told me I am full of arthritis. Guess that's what happens from a lifetime of football, rugby, carrying packs, and winding up as a fat old guy.
