Okay guys I just finished up my one week vacation that I take each year to trap. I had to deal with what you guys have been talking about all winter. Rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, sneet, high winds, temps down in the teens a few nights with freeze/thaw a given every day. I made the best I could with the weather and ended up with a pretty good week. 23 coyotes, 4 bobcat, 2 grey fox, 14 coon, 12 possum, and 1 skunk. I didn't set one coyote property due to the weather and not being able to drive on pasture roads. I use my Polaris Ranger side by side to make it on the big hunting club property roads. It was a record week for me on coyotes with the limited properties I trapped. My bobcat count was within normal range. With the colder than normal temps the coon and possum count was way down. I used all MB 550 offsets and other than a few deer pullouts I only lost one coon. I did catch another possum by the tail only (second time for me.) I had never caught a coyote by two front feet and had two in one day. I don't keep records on bait and lure as good as I should, but can tell you I had good luck with Appleroad bait and a couple of Bob Jameson's lures. I used to take a lot more coyote pictures and end of the day pictures but some of them don't get to ride all the way to the end, especially some of the bad stinkin' coyotes. I have to wait until after deer season to trap on the hunt club so only about half of the coyotes are good. A few pictures to follow.

Bobcat #1 - I like when they think they are hid.

Holy smokes! Congrats to you! All of that in one week's worth of vacation? That's what I want!

Bobcat #2 - Big tom but really plain. It didn't help that I caught him in a muddy clay area of the road so he added a little extra red/brown to his otherwise plain color before getting up on the dry bank.

Bobcat #3 - Really nice colored big tom. Caught him in a pinch point between a high bank and the largest creek in the area.

Bobcat #4 - Big kitten. Caught her in a trail set that improved a couple months ago. I dead tree top fell across a well used game trail. I cut a trail through it that the critters could use but low limbs still keep the deer going around. I caught one coyote and this bobcat at this set.

I made a set by a friends deer food plot. He tried to use some netting to keep the deer out for a short time to let it grow but that didn't work so well. Anyway, he had some of the netting rolled up and I made a set close to it. I thought nothing could reach the netting but I was wrong. LOL I ended up taking the coon, trap, and netting home as one piece. It took me a pretty good while to cut everything loose. Lesson learned!

Just a standard coyote in the woods for my area. I don't remember why I even took the picture.

This is actually on the eight acres behind my house where I caught the black coyote on New Year's day. Little frosty that morning.

This is the first morning, first trap for the day. It started raining about midnight, then changed to freezing rain, then sleet, and then about an inch of snow on top. Everything was crusted over that first morning and I had to stop at each set and remove the crust. I only caught two possum and one coon and I'm guessing they got caught before the bad weather. Nothing like a little snow possum.

This is upstream and downstream of one of the creeks I have to cross on the hunt club. Yes we have trees in Oklahoma. Actually, a bunch here in eastern Oklahoma. This year it was about two feet deep here so my rubber boots come in handy to reach the gas pedal on the side by side. Luckily I haven't had a really big rain when I was trapping or it would be a no go.

Okie, that beats many of us for an entire season. Good job.
That also looks like top notch deer habitat.

You did good Jody for just a week and the weather was poor just about nationwide this season. Great photos and tutorial.
