Okay guys I just finished up my one week vacation that I take each year to trap. I had to deal with what you guys have been talking about all winter. Rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, sneet, high winds, temps down in the teens a few nights with freeze/thaw a given every day. I made the best I could with the weather and ended up with a pretty good week. 23 coyotes, 4 bobcat, 2 grey fox, 14 coon, 12 possum, and 1 skunk. I didn't set one coyote property due to the weather and not being able to drive on pasture roads. I use my Polaris Ranger side by side to make it on the big hunting club property roads. It was a record week for me on coyotes with the limited properties I trapped. My bobcat count was within normal range. With the colder than normal temps the coon and possum count was way down. I used all MB 550 offsets and other than a few deer pullouts I only lost one coon. I did catch another possum by the tail only (second time for me.) I had never caught a coyote by two front feet and had two in one day. I don't keep records on bait and lure as good as I should, but can tell you I had good luck with Appleroad bait and a couple of Bob Jameson's lures. I used to take a lot more coyote pictures and end of the day pictures but some of them don't get to ride all the way to the end, especially some of the bad stinkin' coyotes. I have to wait until after deer season to trap on the hunt club so only about half of the coyotes are good. A few pictures to follow.
