Guys do you set in deer trails? I am targeting coyotes and I have road maps of deer trails here. I know no jump sticks, but just wondering do many of your guys set them? Thanks

I use them, but use the ones that aren’t heavily used by deer. Deer will crash into your snares well before the coyotes start moving

Skip the deer trails and find the coyote travel ways. Deer are bad news if your using snares or restraints. And if it's footholds you'll be rebeding them constantly. More work and risk than it's worth.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!

Yeah I generally skip the deer trails. Breakaways and deer stops work good and do keep you from catching the deer but a deer will almost always ruin the set before you catch a coyote.

I set heavy on Deer Trails. I do good catching Coyotes, Fox and Coon. I use bigger branches or whatever I can find on Pinchpoints along trees with the hopes of deer going around the snare. Yes I have an occasional knock down but have not caught a deer in 40 years of Snaring.

I set mostly ATV trails I make myself, I will set deer trails but I find myself visiting them more often because of knock-downs and probably leaving more scent than I would like. I think the Beav devised a way to have the CR swing back into position on the trail after a deer goes through- that might be beneficial to learn more. In addition, once I make an ATV trail it doesn't take long before it becomes a deer trail... taking the path of least resistance.
