You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

Are you going to put mud on top of the shelf then place It In the water with a trap bedded In the mud? It will probably work.

I have run Into a lot of rip rapped road banks. Just about impossible to make a set In those rocks. So I took some of those square plastic buckets and cut them down to about 6" high. Filled them with dirt and nestled them down among the rocks along those banks. Bed the trap add a little lure and It worked pretty good. Most of the time I set on sign I could see where the rats had climbed up and crapped on the rocks so that's where I set the buckets.
I probably could have used Ice cream pails and accomplished the same thing with less work.

Go for It It will probably work.

Thanks for this, it gave me some ideas. I have a gentleman that wants me to remove a few rats from his pond this spring and the shoreline is large rip-rap.

Success this morning. A little kit got snapped up in the set. A drowned rat is a good find.
