If there is one otter is there generally two? I caught one otter out of a farm pond trapping for beavers. Is there another?

Yes... it is my belief and experience there is normally a male and female running together at minimum.

My experience is the mother and her offspring running together.

^ Yes but keep in mind here in Mississippi the mother and her offspring are also a mating pair grin

plus two or three more. If you have a small creek between two impoundments and set 4 traps, it is not uncommon to have 4 otters if you can keep the beaver and turtles out of the sets. Set the traps apart in the narrow creek areas. Best if traps are submerged completely.
