Settled on HIT brand for cutters, curious now about slip joint plier brands that have sharp cutters that really cut and do not smash 14 ga wire.

I have never had much luck with the wire cutting ability of slip-joint pliers. I much prefer diagonals for cutting wire. The STANLEY brand 8 in. Control Grip Diagonal Pliers (link below) have proven to far surpass the wire cutting ability of slip-joint pliers. Due to their design, they require less force than regular diagonal pliers to cut wire.

I’ve been teased more than once at conventions for my slip joint pliers.

They work for me.

Slip joint's have too much slop in the joint to be effective wire cutters.

Same here. Klein Linemans . I use them all the time for cutting and tightening wire. I don't recall them being this pricey but they must have been.

Carry ceetee pliers every day. Would be lost without them. Work in a welding shop and use them to cut. 035 wire all day and also use them trapping to cut trapping wire, make trap adjustments, and about a million and a half other uses. When they get to the point where they won't clip wire you just lay the rivet on something hard and use a hammer to tighten them back up. I never leave home without them.

The klines will cut up to 1/8 cable also. but c7 's are better.

Never used anything but cee-tee's for wire and I have a pair of Felco C-7's that I got over 45 years ago and their still working like the day I got them.

I recently saw some compound cable cutters made by Rigid that were very easy to use. I have C-7's myself but the Rigids made the cuts more easily. No I need to find some for sale.
