I don't think a cat can be educated. I've turned females loose early in the season and caught them again only a couple weeks later.

I have tried and tried to educate some but they don't pay attention.

Maybe if you could share why you think it's "educated " you could get some pointers. Is it working the set but not stepping on the trap or maybe you think you pinched one and it pulled out..??

In his post on another site, he asked about educated cats and gray fox. I’d say most likely, you might have a stubborn gray fox, but I doubt an educated cat.
For the cat, make a walk through type set very close to its travel way. Cats are suckers for a good walk through set.

Just change set location and the look, scent, and approach of the set especially with a cage trap. A walk through set would do just that compared to a cubby. You would have more options with footholds unless you had access to various cage trap designs. 98% don,t.

Set snares before and after the trap if legal why leave a great harvest tool in the tool box.

You're friend along the snare line .

Well, I think that they might be educated because we caught 8 bobcats on this same little patch of land last year, I they might be getting wise to our sets. Seen tracks, scat, and be and my brother both have seen them on game cameras, just I can't get one to visit my sets.

My inexperienced opinion on this would be change the show up. Scent and presentation. Cats are universly curious. The ones that fell for it last year aren't present. That's all I got. Jmho.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?
