Now there's a hands on learning experience you'll both laugh at for years to come. Lucky you had a helper with you, could have been way worse.

it hurts just as much the second time in case you are wondering. As bad as it hurts getting your hand in there the most painful part is always when you hit the end of the chain running.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I didn't get what he meant until you resaid it. lol. That made me laugh too. That is one club I hope I never have to join. I had to chuckle just a little when you said, it was a poor time to teach your son to use a setter. LOL Best wishes.

I was lucky when I joined th3 330 club. It was laying flat on ice, set, when it fired off one safety broke & one held . Jumped off the ice & grabbed me just above the wrist. One spring is more than I ever want to do again !!! Dennis

Bridger. Set with the trigger down in a pretty deep slide. I didn’t like how the trigger was kind of laying down so I grabbed the upper jaws while I was adjusting the dog down below. No gloves and my hand must have been really cold and loosened my grip without realizing it. Lesson learned but glad I wasn’t trapping alone today. For sure about being glad you weren't trapping alone. Unless your name is Houdini, you're not getting out with both hands caught in a 330.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

I got fingers caught in 330 once , it hurt for weeks on thumb , i don't like 330s, for that, 280 is probly worse, not lot use for them as got be complely submerged, with 330s only, I have tongs within reach, when setting. Out even, I do not want both hands in 1 ever. I alwsys byself, u would be fine, in trouble with both hands in 1, emergency. , U never ever want that happen no matter what

Tom sez "where's the safety grippers?" But you already explained that your safety grippers (hand) failed for some reason. Leastways, thats what i always use for safety grippers!
Welcome to the club.
