T-man Friends,

As some here know, I served a term on the Alaska Board of Game some 15 years ago. Several people have encouraged me to try to get back on.

I think that it is very important that we have a trapper on the Board of Game. Thus, I have thrown my hat into the ring again. My application has proceeded past the initial stages; I have had my interview with Boards and Commissions and made it to the next stage of the selection process.

Now I would appreciate it if Alaskan trappers would consider sending a letter to the Governor supporting me.

Possible things to mention:

Degrees in Biology and Forestry
Familiar with virtually all areas and wildlife issues of Alaska, from Bush to urban
Did a good job when previously on the Board - reputation for being fair to all user groups and stakeholders
Long service with Alaska Trappers Association (Past President and Director) and other conservation groups
Retired from Alaska Div of Forestry
Retired Alaska Master Guide
Good communicator

Governor Mike Dunleavy
P.O. Box 110001
Juneau, AK 99811

Thanks very much,

Pete Buist
Fairbanks

What is the timeline for needing this. I would like to bring it before our local State AC as we have a meeting coming up before spring. We've done this before for Board nominees. Good luck.

Stan,

Thanks.

I'm not sure of what the level of urgency is. Probably "mixed!" Since Theresa resigned, there is an open seat and for that, time is of the essence.

There are also a couple of terms that expire in June (Nate and Karen.) If Governor is considering replacing them rather than reappointing them, there is less of a time crunch.

Arguably, spending some time in my twilight years doing a little trapping where it is NOT -40 degrees could be considered a sign of uncommon good sense!

You are a glutton for pain. frown

P.S. Thanks for your past service and success at restoring the moose population to my unit. Every day I travel I see more moose a day then I used to see traveling a month in 2003. They are almost like pest now.

Pete,
I just sent a letter to the Governors office through their website. Do you think this will get directed to the right person?

That Juneau BOG meeting that you attended and stayed through to help was, I think pivotal in getting things moving in the right direction in GMU 16. It was a slog, but we got 'er done. I appreciate YOUR support!

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh................Pete's an official sourdough after all this time. Marvin Miller told a group of us long ago that Pete was likely one of the best members on the board ever for trappers.

Here's a link you can use to send your letters

https://gov.alaska.gov/contact/email-the-governor/

Go down a bit and there is a sentence that begins: I wish to share my views...... Click on that and it will lead to where you can send him a message.
