I hope to attend nta in springfield,mo this year and was going to buy lure or bait from a large number of lure makers for coyote only. I know there is no definite answer but would most lures and bait be of the same quality in 5-10 years. Also would lures and baits with skunk dissipate in that time period. I am wanting to try a lot of different lures and baits and save on shipping. Thanks for all suggestions.

The lures you buy will be good indefinitely as long as you keep them out of the light. I’m not sure about skunk dissipating, I’ve read that it does over time. I think as long as the jar stays closed you’ll be fine though. Just keep them from the sun.

I’m sure lure and bait makers or guys who have lure older than me will know better and will answer.

The lures should remain good, and may actually improve over time if stored out of direct sunlight. Best kept in a dark and cool location. Skunk essence in lure will dissipate over time. If the skunk has dissipated, you can add more before use if you want to.

Come on over to the house and you are more than welcome to sniff as many jars as you want , lol . What Paul said is 100% correct, some of it gets better with age !

If i put the lure and bait in a working deep freeze would that extend the shelf life.

I have a buddy that freezes all of his baits and lures after season every year . I put mine in a cooler in the basement throughout the off season, some guys don’t worry about it !
