I like Groenewold, but their final stop of the year (in my area) was 2/16. Anyone know why they'd quit so early? I'm still getting some really nice muskrats. And beaver season goes 'til end of March.
I then hatched a plan to sell to Wiebke Fur, but was disappointed the other day when they told me they hope to be done buying by mid March. I'm not sure I'll be in LaCrosse by then....and I have some good beaver spots scheduled for a mid to late March pursuit.
I just got a nice mink the other night. I'm certainly not ready to pull traps yet.

I got another nice mink last night & it made me think of this thread.

Maybe their warehouses are full, they're worried about people bringing in unprime late season fur, or maybe by now some buyers are satisfied that they may have enough fur for the year. I wonder if it varies much from year to year for some of these buyers.

Auction would be the best bet for trappers in this situation I guess.

I know some guys are still buying fur and running routes. Id wager some places that dont have much late season work its not worth it for some guys to run routes to pickup fur.

and i'm sure some need time to get rid of the fur they already have and most are probably using the same places as you and i.

aje, that is what they had scheduled at the beginning of the season. I also wondered why they would stop long before water trapping ends. I did send them a message about it but got no response.

I contacted Groeny about it a couple months ago. He contacted me and we had a great conversation. He said I raised a good point & that he'd probably add a late seaon stop...but last time I checked their website nothing got added. I got a nice beaver the other night, and I'm not done yet.

This week I discovered a fur buyer in Medford, Wi who intends to buy until end of April. Sounded like a great little company. I found out about 'em from the great folks at F&T. Problem is, this buyer stopped running routes year(s) ago, & I never make it to Medford.
