This is a bridger 3 off set if you miss the old Monty dogless square jaw trap with high levers and do not want to pay collector prices .
You can convert bridger 3 offset or standard dog on by cutting off pan post, and dog ,straighten cross member , take angle grinder make a slot put dogless pan on it using a 20 or 30 d nail as the pivot point .
Put jaws were are going to be tack the pivot point in place and put springs back in place.

Looks good. I got a few circle c jaws from Tom Boudette and did some similar. That's a great idea.

If I wanted Montana special 3s jaw spread I would just buy some yep.
Or I could own some victor Monty's if I wanted a round jaw. And I do own some. But once again bridger 3s jaw spead is a old Monty's 4s jaw spread.

that's awesome! Man I love the old montys! So what if you cant adjust the pan tension they don't ever need it. Seeing this my guess is the same could be done to the old north woods! Great job red!

Yes you can build out those northwoods as I believe where all these traps come from is northwood design ???
I am not 100%for sure maybe someone will kick in here and set us straight where the square jaw came from for sure.
Tony i adjust mine too about 4-4.5 lbs tension a d that is where they stay. With wire screen that is about right for ME coyotes, cats ,occasionally a fox.

GREAT IDEA sorry but im going to borrow it soon! Have some older north woods being added to my arsenal this spring once they are finished I will post pics. Kind of excited to get my hands on them now! The pan post addition was the best part! A little ingenuity and I believe a tensioner could be incorporated rather easily! Some times the simplest pics just floor me! Makes me want to slap myself for not thinking of that! Lol and don't worry your name will be mentioned as the person that showed that little trick! Upon farther analisis I think I would prefer the dogless bridger pans a tad more surface area for a paw to land on!

I could be wrong ,,,, but that is the reason I use wire or steel screen pan covers ,,,,, as far as toe catches I call horse pucky on the field it's not been my experience .

I need to go back a reevaluate wire screen pan covers my first expirience with them was all bad! I put out 12 and every one had the screen dug out! at first I thought the screen was contaminated but after a little more research. I believe the screen was sifting on the pan I wasn't tucking both edges under the trap as you should! This years horrible weather proved to me even with wax dirt peat can and will fail! So ive decided to jump back on the screen train.

Awesome!!!!! I've thought that's the way I would have to do it but it's awsome to see somone who has done it and it worked !
Two questions though. How do you adjust the pan tension, I'm guess a gunnotch type deal
And do you think other traps would need to be reinforced in the area you cut ?

Or you could just buy them from me. Northwoods design with Montgomery dogless system. Have 2 and 3s.
